I think that it's time for a little psychological debate here. I'm in this situation where I have observed my co-worker and her friendship with a guy about to evolve into something that seems a bit more intimate, at least as judged from her confessions to me. They eat dinner, watch movies, play games or just sit around for hours talking, when they normally should be sleeping. They also spend an obscene amount of time chatting on every medium available.
In any normal situation, this would be a cool friendship, right? But by now, everyone instantly assumes that they're in love, or will be or are secretely a couple. But from what she telle me, they're not. At least not yet.
Well, few people know this, but there's simply no way she could ever function in a relationship right now due to her emotional scars and her life situation. They've known each other for about 2.5 years and been actively seeing each other for at least half a year. The plan was to just be friends, because they click like clockwork together. They're different enough to have interesting things to debate, yet similar enough to be eerily "sibling-like" in many ways and they have great fun together.
So here comes the question: Will this relationship stay on the friendzone level indefinitely, or will it inevitable mature into something else? They've talked about it and they've both had times where they've felt more than "we really should" for the other so what do you guys think? Is it even possible to remain "just friends" with a person you like so much that in another life they could be your sibling?
